Hawaii's shores offer up many of the sea's treasures, and few are as charming as the delicate, wafer-thin sand dollar. Cousins of sea stars and urchins, sand dollars live like buried coins in the coastal shallows. When they die, their ecto skeletons wash ashore, nature's currency for lucky beach-combers.
