The Tiare Lei Quilt
Q uintessential symbol of Hawaii, the garlands of flowers known as lei still retain their ceremonial and cultural importance. The Tiare Lei quilt was inspired by the lei-draped statue of King Kamehameha outside the State Legislature building, as well as by the sight of leis floating on the ocean, an offering to the gods. Love, friendship, kindly wishes – a lei denotes all things good and the essence of the beauty of giving.
